Onions

Onions

Do onions make you cry when you cut them? There is a reason for that as they produce a chemical irritant to stimulate tears. The Doctrine of Signatures asserts that onions look like the cells in our body and that onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. Which means, they help the product of tears to wash away They even produce tears which wash the outer layers of thin tissues of the eyes. So eat those onions, just make sure to pop a mint and/or brush your teeth after. No one likes onion breath.

Unless you feel like a good cry, you can try to freeze the onion or soak it in cold water.

I love caramelized onions and will make them whenever I can. Last night I made them and placed them lovingly atop this Buddha Bowl. They made the dish, just ask @christianheals. What’s your favorite way to eat an onion?

Caramelized Onions

I like yellow or sweet onions best 😢Slice both ends off the onion so you have two flat ends.
😢Stand onion on one flat end and cut in half
😢Place flat side of both ends on cutting board and cut thinky along the grain
😢Heat saute pan over medium heat
😥When warm, add olive or coconut oil
😥When oil is warm, add onions, sprinkle with salt.
😥Stir the onions to coat with oil and salt and let sweat for a few minutes
😥Once they start to brown and stick to the pan, add a little bit of water, stir the onions and let sit until the water has evaporated
😥Repeat this step until your onions have reached the desired level of caramelization
