Would you believe me if I told you this dreamy, creamy delectable chocolate orange mousse actually is made with avocado? It’s true! This hot commodity fruit (it’s a berry!) is much more than the trophy nestled a top some toast or guacamole. No, this monounsaturated (aka good) fat, is more than just a pretty face.
Avocados have a variety of uses:
🥑base of chocolate mousse🥑use in place of mayo🥑 add to a smoothie
This little treat is replete with nourishment, just don’t go overboard. Everything in moderation. There’s a little bit of orange juice and zest, which contains vitamin C, a fat soluble vitamin helped along in the body by the glorious avocado. How sweet is that?
There’s not a lot of sugar. Only what’s in the chocolate chips (which is very little) and a splash of maple syrup, which doesn’t spike the glycemic index like white sugar.
🥑 1 cup dark chocolate chips🥑1 ripe, medium haas avocado🥑1 small navel orange, zested and juiced🥑2 tbsp maple syrup🥑1 tsp almond or vanilla extract
🥑1/2 cup coconut cream or milk (cream preferred, I used @traderjoes) refrigerated so cream rises to top of can and is more solidified
🥑Melt chocolate over double boiler🥑Add coconut cream, orange juice and zest, vanilla or almond extract and maple syrup to blender and blend until well combined🥑While blender is on low speed, add melted chocolate through top. Blend until well combined. 🥑Pour into serving dishes, cover and refrigerate for at least an hour
